Cae el telón

Las fallas de Valencia son el punto de arranque de la gira de “hermanos de sangre” en un festival con intenciones de revival ochenteno, el Loco se desmarca con unas perlas a la prensa que cabrean a la oficina y a la organización a un tiempo y con un repertorio que se centra en los tres últimos discos, sin concesiones a los 80.

La salud de Guillermo no parece recuperarse y la preocupación por su enfermedad crece día a día. Guillermo  reaparece el 20 de abril en Hospitalet pero a las pocas semanas vuelve a recaer, la banda continúa la gira en la cuerda floja, al tanto de su salud.

Hermanos de Sangre recibe  las mejores críticas y su diseño innovador es copiado por la competencia.

En el mes de junio Caja Cantabria dedica toda una semana a repasar su carrera, con distintas propuestas; una exposición de las fotografías de Manel Esclusa, una mesa redonda singular donde Luís Alberto de Cuenca, Gabriel Sopeña y Loquillo hablan de la poseía y el rock, la proyección de Mujeres en pie de guerra y la exposición de la obra gráfica que Fernando Pereira hizo para el proyecto, seguida de una mesa de debate que cuenta con la presencia de Loquillo, JM Mendiluce y Susana Koska. Pero el colofón sin duda es la actuación que ofrecen Gabriel Sopeña y Loquillo y Trogloditas con lo más hermoso de su repertorio, repasando ampliamente sus discos de poesía y las canciones de la BSO de Mujeres en pie de guerra.

Es una actuación memorable y para Loquillo  un punto de inflexión; “ese es el camino a seguir”. Harto  de que el destino le sorprenda con una banda cambiante, Loquillo sienta las bases para el futuro.

Antes de lo esperado surgen los primeros roces con Polako y la oficina Last Tour internacional, que desconociendo la personalidad indomable de Loquillo pretenden edulcorarlo y domesticarlo… mal asunto.

El 3 de junio Guillermo Martín sube al escenario por última vez, esa noche se lloran ríos de malta, presintiendo el drama que se avecina.

Jaime Stinus inicia a su vez la grabación de las nuevas canciones que formarán parte de su siguiente trabajo en los estudios GARATE de Andoain (Guipúzcoa) esperando que Guillermo pueda grabar sus guitarras más adelante, pero la tragedia se precipita y es ingresado en el Hospital Miguel Servert de Zaragoza.
Guillermo Martín muere el 18 de agosto de cáncer de pulmón dejando huérfanos a la banda, a sus muchos amigos y al rock español.

La banda recibe la noticia en Alicante antes de una actuación, esa noche sonará “nunca caminarás solo” por un Elvis que servirá de catalizador de los sentimientos de todos en el escenario, equipo técnico y artístico y la banda, que tras la actuación sale hacia Zaragoza para despedirle.

El entierro de Guillermo es un homenaje de toda la profesión, bajo un calor tórrido, corren lágrimas, risas y recuerdos, con Guille muere una manera de entender el rock and roll en España, de cuando era una forma de vida.

Tras la ceremonia viajan a Cuenca, rotos de cansancio y de emoción a proseguir con la gira.

Siguen encima del escenario pero emocionalmente heridos, como lo atestiguan las Troglocrónicas de esos días; el show debe continuar.
La gira termina en una abarrotada Plaza del Pilar el día de la fiesta grande de Zaragoza, en un momento lo generadores fallan y se quedan a oscuras durante 15 minutos, es el detonante para que Loco tome una decisión irrevocable; será su última gira con Trogloditas, volverá a refugiarse en el teatro, así se lo comunica a su oficina y su manager. Volverá al escenario en marzo, como artista en solitario con un repertorio fuera del registro Trogloditas.

Last Tour “lo entiende a su manera” y publica un anuncio donde se presenta el concierto como un grandes éxitos de la banda en un escenario teatral, nada más lejos de los planteamientos iniciales de Loquillo, que no pretende hacer una versión acústica sino renovar banda y repertorio, no revisitarse a sí mismo.

Crece la tensión con Last Tour que termina enviando una carta a Loquillo negándose a seguir trabajando con él, pero el camino continúa, la banda, José Lapuente, los suyos están de su parte.

Hace las maletas y se instala definitivamente en Donosti junto a su familia, no es la primera vez que el Cantábrico le cura las heridas.

El 2007 llega con nuevas propuestas; Antípodas Producciones, la oficina que José Lapuente y Chema Fernández dirigen en Zaragoza se hace cargo de la contratación de la banda, el teléfono no ha parado de sonar a pesar de haber suspendido la gira de teatros.

Vuelven al escenario en el homenaje a Guillermo Martín en Zaragoza el 26 de enero, más tranquilos después del descanso….de algunos

Mientras la banda se ha ido de vacaciones, Loquillo, ha terminado las canciones del nuevo disco con sus colaboradores habituales; Gabriel Sopeña, Igor Paskual, Carlos Segarra y la reincorporación de Sabino Méndez.

Recupera el master de «Nueve tragos» que sale reeditado por DRO, con nueva portada y una nueva remasterización, bajo la batuta de Jaime Stinus.

Junto a Carles Prats, que ya dirigió el videoclip “Barcelona ciudad”, prepara lo que será el documental sobre la historia de Loquillo y Trogloditas y comienza a escribir su segunda novela con el título “Los muchachos del verano”.

En una tradicional comida en una sociedad gastronómica, Iñigo Argomaniz director de Get ing, le propone talonear a The Who en gira por el país, no es una mala de empezar una posible y fructífera colaboración y tras meses de reflexión y prudencia, el Loco comienza a sonreír. Será en el BEC de Barakaldo, un escenario conocido donde ya grabaron “Hermanos de Sangre”, la mítica banda británica confirma por escrito la participación de Loquillo y Trogloditas.

La noche del 19 de mayo cumplen con el sueño de cualquier fan; tocar en el mismo escenario que su banda favorita y romper el molde… que hace un rocker taloneando a una banda mod? El BEC volvió a rugir y Pete Towsend que cumplía 62 años, recibió como regalo de Loquillo y Trogloditas una guitarra de chocolate realizada por el creativo pastelero Christian Escribá. Según contó Towsend en su blog, su intención era romperla en el escenario, pero su mujer no pudo contenerse y se comió el mástil.

Aquella noche fue la primera experiencia como teloneros de una banda que no ha sido telonera de nadie y esa no iba a ser la única vez…

Music Frog la productora alicantina que organiza el concierto de Rolling Stones en El Ejido (Almería) da la noticia bomba; Loquillo y Trogloditas serán los teloneros de sus satánicas majestades. Tras la rueda de prensa que anuncia el concierto, reciben de madrugada la llamada de quien fuera su manager en la década de los 90 Gay Mercader, el hombre más duro del negocio, con quien no hablaba desde entonces que le propone ser el telonero en los conciertos de Barcelona y Madrid.

The Who y Rolling Stones en el mismo año! es un hito irrepetible que merece un capítulo aparte en su biografía, una crónica sentimental de las emociones vividas al tocar el cielo del rock and roll.

El 29 de junio teloneando a la banda sagrada del rock, Loquillo se despide de los Trogloditas.

Es un buen punto final para su colaboración junto a Simón Ramírez, han sido muchos años encima del escenario, pero la situación no tiene marcha atrás, el nombre Trogloditas pertenece a Simón, separarse de él, iniciar una carrera en solitario es la opción más digna. Loquillo y Trogloditas acaban en el momento mas álgido, invitando a Sabino Méndez a participar en los conciertos junto a los Stones.

No está mal para cerrar el círculo, en un momento en que tantas bandas de los dulces 80 reaparecen al calor del negocio. Así lo anuncia a los medios de comunicación.

EMI reedita Compañeros de viaje junto con el documental dirigido por Óscar Aibar sobre la grabación que aparecía incompleto en la edición del 97.

Tras el concierto de El Ejido, el más emocionante juntos a las satánicas majestades, Loquillo recibe la adhesión incondicional de Igor, Cuti, Laurent, Stinus y José Lapuente.
